Updates and WIPs

With that out of the way, updates!

This month has been a pretty rough one with trauma therapy progress and mental health stuff, but I’m still working on a couple writing projects. One I shared in my last newsletter, but in case you didn’t get it from the old host, you can find it in the archive on Beehiiv here. Unholy is an urban fantasy about demons (my obsession…) and it features an older woman love interest, which I feel there is too little of in fantasy with romance subplots. While the book isn’t a romance, it has elements. It just doesn’t have the kind of ending a romance reader would want, so it’s strictly urban fantasy.

Something I didn’t mention in my last newsletter about it was that you can start reading it now 👀 It’s currently over on Wattpad as a WIP, if you want a peek. It’s already written off Wattpad, I’m just posting edits as I go. Updates have slowed a little to work on my other WIP. You can also find its playlist here.

As for my other project, it’s where my heart is at for the moment. It’s called Wretched, and it’s about deep, dark religious subjects taking place in the Tennessee countryside in the Bible belt of America. It’s very much as Southern Gothic as it sounds. I combined the idea with a story I once started writing while in the psychiatric hospital years ago but never finished, and it worked well with what I’d started with Wretched. The main character and vibes were heavily inspired by Reverend Kristin Michael Hayter, formerly known as Lingua Ignota. Her art is fantastic and her music made it onto the playlist, which you can find here.

Wretched is also on Wattpad currently as a WIP. I’ve written twelve chapters off Wattpad, and it’s currently up to chapter six on the site. Please make sure you read the content warnings before starting, there are some important ones. The story’s playlist also gives a good idea of what you’re getting into.
